Treatments

Chinese Herbs

Herbal Medicine utilizes specific Chinese plants and organic products in traditional formulas that have been specifically tailored to the individual patient. These formulas can help to remove blockages in the meridians (in combination with acupuncture), and can also help to build up Qi in the body. In the simplest terms, where Qi is deficient, organ function is diminished and there is fatigue. Herbal medicine can help with this.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years and is a very safe modality of treatment. It is known to balance all systems in the body, alleviate pain and discomfort, send healing energy known as “qi” to all organs within, and most importantly promotes increased health benefits for the body, mind, and spirit of the individual. The basic practice involves insertion and manipulation of acupuncture needles into appropriate points on meridians to elicit a therapeutic response and addresses the specific needs of each patient. The needles are safe, disposable, and only used once. When administered by a qualified and licensed professional, most patients report a feeling of deep relaxation and increased energy after a treatment, with no negative side effects.

Cupping

This involves the use of glass or plastic cups which are placed on the body with suction to help remove toxins and muscle tension. They are often used in patients with immune issues such as a cold as well as pain.

Electro-acupuncture

The Acupuncture needles are stimulated with an electric charge delivered from a machine. This is used often and effectively with patients dealing with pain.

Moxibustion

This involves the burning of an herb-Artemesia Vulgaris-either on top of the needle, or on the skin directly. This is often in patients who are  dealing with cold or stagnant conditions such as abdominal cramps

Qi Gong Energy Healing

This work operates on multiple levels of the energy-body, including the "Chakra System" energy-centers from the Eastern Yoga traditions and the "Aura Field," the Bio-electro-magnetic "cocoon" that flows around the body, which is well-known in the Western esoteric traditions. This subtle-energy work also directly affects the "Meridian Systems" of Oriental medicine and Acupuncture. Thus our entire physical, emotional, mental and spiritual natures are nourished.

Bio-Mat

This mat is placed on the massage table for every treatment offered through my services. A Bio-Mat is a new, healthy way of enhancing treatments to help reduce muscle pain and much more. It is essentially a larger more high-tech heating pad that allows maximum relaxation and relief in the duration of your treatments. The Bio-Mat uses far infrared rays to help mimic natural sunlight without harmful UV rays that damage skin while generating negative ions and contains Amethyst crystals. Negative ions are electrically charged particles that improve cellular circulation while the Amethyst crystals help to enhance the healing properties of infrared rays used in this mat. This Bio-Mat is a newly introduced healing product that will help with a more noticeable health improvement after every treatment.

Your first visit

Your first appointment usually lasts about 1 1/2 hours(90 minutes). Initially I ask you to fill out a medical survey form. Reviewing the form, we will discuss your past health and
medical history, your lifestyle, your concerns and your goals for treatment. We may also
discuss the difference between western and eastern medicine. These conversations are an important part of the diagnostic process. Once this is completed, I will recommend a course of treatment and explain how acupuncture will fit into that course of treatment. Depending upon your specific condition, I will then take your pulse. Acupuncture pulses are a qualitative reflection of the six major energy systems of the body. They are taken on both wrists in three locations. The information obtained goes far beyond the heart rate information obtained by conventional Western medicine pulse taking. Next I will look at your tongue which, in Chinese medicine, can obtain much information about your general health. Then I will palpate your body. Palpitation is nothing more than physical touching of the body in the affected areas. This is necessary in order to determine the most effective acupuncture points for your treatment.

Follow-up Visits
Follow-up visits usually last 1 hour. I will begin by asking you about any changes you might have felt since your last treatment and if you have any new concerns. After the assessment, I will proceed with the appropriate treatment.
